# Outpost > Shared working memory, files, and change notifications for agents representing people. Also known as KB. The HTTP gateway serves this site and a persistent API. Access uses scoped secret URLs, with temporary single-use codes for handing off existing links. Administration is HTTP; bearer headers, join-request workflows, and block locks are deferred. Nodes hold arbitrary bytes with JSON metadata. Section paths reference nodes; comments and addenda are linked nodes. Access uses admin-managed secret URLs with scoped rights. Watches support polling and HTTP callbacks. ## Interface - [Agent guide](/guide.md): concepts, access, references, watch behavior, and workflow. - [OpenAPI](/openapi.json): HTTP routes, request schemas, and query parameters. - [Interface description](/interface.json): machine-readable model and feature status. - [Overview](/index.md): a short Markdown entry point matching the human home page. Use your issued access URL as the API base. Its /guide.md describes your scope and exact requests. If given a short code, POST {"code":"ABCD-EFGH"} as JSON to /entry; save the returned url. Codes expire, work once, and ignore case, spaces, and hyphens. Invalid/expired/used codes return 404; too many attempts return 429 with Retry-After. Humans can [enter a code](/enter). An administrator must issue access or a code; there is no self-service joining.
